The new Epping Forest College is based at the existing Borders
Lane site. The landmark 18,000m2, £38 million development replaces the old College’s Upper and Lower sites, and has been open since September 2008.
The new campus brings social and economic benefits to the area and provide a massive boost to further and higher education in south-west Essex. Epping Forest College is an important local landmark, both in terms of its physical presence and the opportunities that it offers.
Whilst our core purpose has always been and will continue to be
educating students, the new building offers opportunities to all of our stakeholders, from charities and community associations to businesses seeking to develop the skills base of their workforce.
The College gives some 2,000 full-time and 4,000 part-time learners the latest industry-standard equipment and resources, including Construction and Motor Vehicle workshops, Theatre and performance studios, a Media Centre with recording and photography studios, and the latest IT technology infrastructure. Security is also enhanced with a micro-chipped ID card system recording all those who acess the site.
As part of the development, the College worked closely with Essex County Council Libraries to build the new Debden Library into the fabric of the campus as a modern resource for both student and community use.
What was the Middle Site has been re-developed as the location of the College’s Hair & Beauty and Art & Design teaching areas.
